In Greeley Colorado, the charitable organization C.O.P.S (Concerns of Police Survivors) that helps out the ones left behind when their policeman dies on duty held an auction to raise funds. The car of one fallen officer was going to be auctioned off five years after he'd been killed in a shoot out. The son of this officer went to the auction hoping to get his father's car. He wanted it as a way to maintain a connection with his father for himself and his younger brother. However his bid fell short of the bid of a wealthy rancher in the county.
But the mood changed rapidly when after getting the keys from the auctioneer, this man turned and handed the keys to the son.
The winning bid of 60K (48K over valuation) all goes to the charity.
